I’ve read many tales about farangs overstaying in the Kingdom who ended up in jail or were blacklisted for the country. The Web is full of these stories, which obviously weren’t written by “normal” people.
Last month, I realized I had overstayed my (tourist) Visa of 21 days, and like everyone I’ve Googled to find what I needed to do. But to tell you the truth, the only valuable answers were given by my embassy as the Web is really full of crap in this matter.
So if you are overstaying in Thailand, follow that simple advice (as soon as possible): buy a plane ticket, go to Suvarnabhumi, pass through the Immigration (like everyone else), they’ll see you are overstaying and ask you to pay a fee (500THB per day), take your plane, enjoy some days abroad, apply for a new visa and come back. This is it, no jail, no questions asked. Simple.
